Why reglaze

Keep the shower. Lose the grout stains.

A shower remodel is the most disruptive job in the house. Reglazing gives you the bright, sealed result in one day.

Grout is the real problem. It is porous, it drinks water, and the mildew staining Lake Forest customers fight every weekend lives in it. Tile demolition, a new pan, waterproofing and inspections are the expensive way to fix that.

We seal walls, pan and grout into one surface. Cracked grout is cut out and replaced first, then the whole enclosure is etched and sprayed with a high-gloss finish, with slip texture on the floor. Mildew becomes a wipe, not a scrub.

Is it a candidate?

Shower problems reglazing solves

  • Grout lines stained black with mildew that return no matter how you clean
  • Cracked, pitted or stained shower pan or shower floor
  • Dated tile colors: pink, mint, blue, brown or beige from the 60s to 80s
  • Cultured-marble shower walls that have yellowed or crazed
  • Etched or cloudy surfaces from hard water and harsh cleaners
  • Small leaks at grout joints that are not plumbing related
  • A rental or flip that needs to show well on a tight budget
  • A matching tub-and-surround refinish so the whole bathroom looks new

What we refinish

Shower types we work on in Lake Forest

  • Tile showers

Walls, niches, curbs and the floor are refinished together, grout included, for a seamless look.

  • Shower pans and bases

Fiberglass, acrylic, tile and cultured-marble pans. We add a slip-resistant texture to the floor.

  • Cultured-marble enclosures

Panel showers common in 80s and 90s Lake Forest builds. Seams are sealed and the color updated.

  • Tub-and-shower combos

The tub and the surround are done as one job for a single, uniform finish.

How it works

Our shower reglazing process

The same careful prep on every job. That is what makes the finish last.

  1. 01

    Inspect for water damage

We check for soft walls, loose tile and active leaks. Reglazing seals the surface but cannot fix structural water damage, so we rule that out first.

  2. 02

    Deep clean and etch

Soap scum, mildew and mineral scale are removed and the whole enclosure is etched so the coating bonds to tile, grout and base alike.

  3. 03

    Repair and re-grout

Cracked grout is cut out and replaced, loose tiles reset, chips in the pan filled and sanded.

  4. 04

    Spray the enclosure

Bonding agent, then multiple coats of high-gloss topcoat across walls, grout and floor. Slip-resistant additive on the pan.

  5. 05

    Cure and reseal

After 24 to 48 hours of cure we re-caulk the corners and edges and hand the shower back ready to use.

FAQ

Shower Reglazing questions from Lake Forest homeowners

Straight answers from 10+ years of reglazing in the Saddleback Valley. Not covered here? Call (949) 516-0179.

Can you reglaze a shower floor or pan?

Yes. Fiberglass, acrylic, tile and cultured-marble shower pans are all refinished, and we add a non-slip texture to the floor so it is safe when wet.

Does reglazing cover the grout?

Yes. The coating goes over tile and grout together, sealing the grout lines so they no longer absorb water or stain. You can still see the tile pattern; it is simply one smooth, sealed surface now.

Will reglazing stop my shower from leaking?

It seals hairline cracks and porous grout, which stops surface seepage. It will not fix a failed pan liner, broken drain or leaking valve. We inspect for those first and tell you if a plumber is needed instead.

How long before I can use the shower?

Allow 24 to 48 hours of cure time. We confirm the exact time at the end of the job.

Can I change the tile color in my shower?

Yes. Color change is one of the main reasons Lake Forest homeowners reglaze a shower. Bright white is the most popular choice, with biscuit, bone and gray close behind.

Do you reglaze the tub and shower surround together?

Yes, and it is the most common job we do. Doing both at once gives you one uniform finish and is more economical than two separate visits.
