Why reglaze
It peeled because it was never bonded. Ours will be.
Nearly every failed refinish we see, DIY kit or cheap contractor, comes down to prep: no etching, no bonding agent, silicone residue left behind.
Why refinishes fail. Hardware-store kits and bargain refinishers skip the steps that make a coating stick: removing old caulk and silicone, chemically etching the porcelain, repairing chips, and applying a bonding agent. The coating sits on top instead of bonding, and within months it lifts at the drain, the soap dish or anywhere water sits.
Our fix starts with removing all of it. We strip the failed coating back to the original surface, which takes longer than a standard job, then prep and reglaze exactly as we would a tub that was never touched. A properly bonded finish lasts 10 to 15 years, and ours is covered by the same 2-year warranty.

Failed Refinish Repair questions

My tub was refinished a year ago and is peeling. Can you fix it?
Yes. This is one of the most common jobs we do. We strip the failed coating completely and reglaze from the original surface.
Can you just patch the peeling spot?
A patch on a failed coating will fail at the next edge. The honest fix is to remove the whole coating and redo it, which is what we do.
Does stripping cost more than a normal reglaze?
Yes, somewhat. Removing a failed coating adds time. Send photos and we will quote it accurately the same day.
Why did my DIY kit fail?
Kits rely on a thin epoxy with no etching and no bonding agent. Any silicone residue, soap film or moisture under it prevents a bond, and the coating lifts within months.
Will yours peel too?
Not with proper prep, which is the whole difference. Our finish is bonded, not laid on top, and it carries a 2-year written warranty.
