General

What is reglazing, exactly?

Reglazing (also called refinishing or resurfacing) repairs the damaged surface of a tub, sink, shower or tile and bonds a new sprayed finish to it, in place. The fixture stays; only the worn layer is replaced.

How much does reglazing cost in Lake Forest?

A fraction of replacement. A new tub runs $3,000 to $8,000 or more once demolition, plumbing and tile are included. Send photos through the quote form and we price your fixture the same day.

How long does a reglazed finish last?

10 to 15 years on tubs, showers and tile with normal care. Kitchen sinks see harder use and last less. Our warranty is 2 years on every job and 6 months on kitchen sinks.

How long does the job take?

Most fixtures are finished in one visit of 3 to 5 hours. The finish then cures for 24 to 48 hours before use.

Does it smell, and do I need to leave?

There is a solvent odor during spraying. We run exhaust ventilation and it clears within a few hours. Most families stay home with the bathroom door closed; anyone with respiratory sensitivity, infants or pets should avoid the area that day.

Can you change the color?

Yes. White is the most popular choice, with biscuit, bone and light gray close behind. Color change costs the same as a like-for-like refinish.

Which areas do you serve?

Lake Forest and the surrounding cities: Mission Viejo, Irvine, Laguna Hills, Laguna Woods, Aliso Viejo, Rancho Santa Margarita, Trabuco Canyon, Ladera Ranch and Tustin.

Do you charge for a quote?

No. Quotes are free and usually go out the same day from photos. We are happy to come out in person if you prefer.

Care & warranty

How do I clean a reglazed tub?

Use a non-abrasive liquid cleaner and a soft sponge or cloth. Avoid scouring powders, abrasive pads, bleach left standing and anything with ammonia. Rinse after use and leave it to dry.

Can I use a bath mat?

A mat you remove after each bath is fine. Suction-cup mats and non-slip stickers left in place trap water and will lift the finish, and damage from them is not covered.

When can I use the fixture?

24 hours for light use, 48 hours before a full bath or heavy use. We give you the exact time when we finish.

What voids the warranty?

Abrasive cleaners or pads, suction mats or appliqués left in place, standing water from a dripping faucet, use before the cure period ends, dropped objects, and structural or plumbing problems underneath the fixture. Full terms are on the Terms of Service page.

Bathtub Reglazing

How long does a reglazed bathtub last?

With normal use and non-abrasive cleaning, a professionally reglazed tub lasts 10 to 15 years. Our 2-year warranty covers peeling, blistering and adhesion failure.

How soon can I use the tub after reglazing?

The finish needs 24 hours to cure before light use and 48 hours before you fill it for a bath. We will tell you the exact time when we finish the job.

Can you change the color of my tub?

Yes. Most Lake Forest homeowners choose bright white, but biscuit, almond, bone and custom colors are available. Color changes cost the same as a like-for-like refinish.

Does reglazing fix chips and cracks?

Yes. Chips, hairline cracks and rust spots are repaired as part of every job, before the new coating is applied. Structural cracks in fiberglass tubs are reinforced first.

Does the process smell, and do I need to leave the house?

There is a solvent odor during spraying. We run exhaust ventilation and the smell clears within a few hours. Most families simply keep the bathroom door closed and stay home; we recommend anyone with respiratory sensitivity, infants or pets avoid the area that day.

Is reglazing really cheaper than a new tub?

Almost always by a wide margin. A replacement in Lake Forest runs $3,000 to $8,000 or more once you add demolition, plumbing and tile work. Reglazing is a fraction of that and done in a day. See our savings breakdown for the full comparison.

My tub was refinished before and is peeling. Can you fix it?

Yes. We strip the failed coating back to the original surface, then prep and reglaze it properly. Failed DIY kits and bargain refinishes are one of the most common jobs we do.

Sink Reglazing

Can a kitchen sink be reglazed?

Yes, enamel-coated cast-iron and steel kitchen sinks reglaze well. Because kitchen sinks see hot cookware, heavy pots and far more daily use than a bathroom sink, the finish will not last as long as a tub, and the warranty on kitchen sinks is 6 months rather than 2 years.

How long does sink reglazing take?

Most bathroom sinks are finished in 2 to 3 hours. An integrated cultured-marble vanity top takes a little longer. Allow 24 hours of cure time before use.

Will the reglazed surface match my refinished tub?

Yes. We use the same coatings and colors on tubs, sinks, showers and tile, so a sink done alongside a tub or surround will match exactly.

Can you reglaze the sink without removing it?

Yes. The sink stays in place. We remove the drain hardware and faucet trim as needed, mask everything around it and refinish it where it sits.

What about the counter around a drop-in sink?

For drop-in sinks we refinish the bowl and rim. For cultured-marble tops with the bowl molded in, we refinish the entire top, including the backsplash, so the result is seamless.

Why is the kitchen sink warranty shorter?

A kitchen sink is the hardest-working surface in the house. Scalding water, cast-iron pans and dropped dishes wear any coating faster. Six months is an honest warranty for that environment; many customers get years of service, but we will not promise what the sink may not deliver.

Shower Reglazing

Can you reglaze a shower floor or pan?

Yes. Fiberglass, acrylic, tile and cultured-marble shower pans are all refinished, and we add a non-slip texture to the floor so it is safe when wet.

Does reglazing cover the grout?

Yes. The coating goes over tile and grout together, sealing the grout lines so they no longer absorb water or stain. You can still see the tile pattern; it is simply one smooth, sealed surface now.

Will reglazing stop my shower from leaking?

It seals hairline cracks and porous grout, which stops surface seepage. It will not fix a failed pan liner, broken drain or leaking valve. We inspect for those first and tell you if a plumber is needed instead.

How long before I can use the shower?

Allow 24 to 48 hours of cure time. We confirm the exact time at the end of the job.

Can I change the tile color in my shower?

Yes. Color change is one of the main reasons Lake Forest homeowners reglaze a shower. Bright white is the most popular choice, with biscuit, bone and gray close behind.

Do you reglaze the tub and shower surround together?

Yes, and it is the most common job we do. Doing both at once gives you one uniform finish and is more economical than two separate visits.

Fiberglass Bathtub Enclosure Reglazing

Can a yellowed fiberglass tub-shower really look new again?

Yes. Yellowing is in the old gel coat, and reglazing covers it with a new finish in the color you choose. The result is a uniform, glossy surface across the whole unit.

My tub floor flexes. Can that be fixed?

Yes. A flexing or soft fiberglass floor usually means the unit was installed without proper support underneath. We inject expanding structural foam beneath the floor to make it solid, then refinish. It is a standard part of our fiberglass work in Lake Forest.

Do you repair cracks before reglazing?

Always. Cracks and crazing are ground out, filled with fiberglass filler and sanded flush before any coating is applied. Painting over a crack would just fail.

How long does a reglazed fiberglass enclosure last?

With non-abrasive cleaning, 10 years or more is typical. Our 2-year warranty covers the finish itself.

Why not just replace the unit?

Because the unit was installed before the walls were finished, replacement means cutting it out, opening the walls, plumbing and drywall work, and installing a new multi-piece enclosure. In Lake Forest that is typically $3,500 to $9,000 or more and a week without the bathroom. Reglazing takes one day.

Will the floor still be slip resistant?

Yes. We restore anti-slip texture to the tub or shower floor as part of every enclosure job.

Tile Walls & Floors Reglazing

Can you really change the color of tile without removing it?

Yes. Tile reglazing applies a new colored finish over the existing tile and grout. The tile texture and pattern remain; the color is whatever you choose. White, biscuit and light gray are the most popular choices in Lake Forest.

What happens to the grout lines?

They are sealed under the same finish as the tile, so they stop absorbing water and staining. The grout lines are still visible as a pattern, which keeps the surface looking like real tile.

Can you reglaze floor tile?

Yes, for bathroom and laundry floors with light to moderate traffic. We add a slip-resistant additive to the finish. We do not recommend reglazing high-traffic entry or kitchen floors.

Can you reglaze a tile countertop?

Yes. Tile countertops and backsplashes refinish well and are far easier to keep clean afterward, and they carry the same 2-year warranty as our other work.

How long does reglazed tile last?

On walls and surrounds, 10 to 15 years with normal care. Floors and countertops see more wear and typically last less.

Should I do the tub at the same time as the surround?

If both are dated or worn, yes. Doing them together gives you one seamless finish, and it is more economical than two separate visits.

Countertop Refinishing

Can laminate countertops really be refinished?

Yes. Laminate is one of the best surfaces for resurfacing. Chips and seams are filled, the surface is etched, and a bonding agent lets the new finish adhere permanently.

Does the finish look like stone?

It can. We offer multi-tone stone-look finishes as well as solid colors. Most Lake Forest kitchens choose a light stone look over a dark laminate.

Can I put hot pans on a refinished counter?

Use a trivet, just as you would on laminate or cultured marble. The finish is durable for daily use but is not a substitute for granite under a hot pan.

Do you refinish the sink at the same time?

For a cultured-marble top with the bowl molded in, yes, the whole piece is done together. For a kitchen with a separate sink, we can refinish the sink in the same visit. Kitchen sinks carry a 6-month warranty.

How long does a refinished countertop last?

5 to 10 years with normal care in a kitchen, longer on a bathroom vanity. The finish is covered by our 2-year warranty.

Is it cheaper than new laminate?

Usually, once you count fabrication, the plumber to reset the sink and the backsplash. And it is done in a day instead of weeks.
